HydroGap drainable housewrap eliminates excess moisture and prevents the damaging effects of mold and rot. Its unique design provides up to two times the performance over other drainable housewraps and removes over 100 times more bulk water than standard housewraps. “Hydrogap is a product we’ve been looking at for a while now, it takes housewrap to a new level – one that removes bulk water and moisture”, explained Niece Lumber President Marc Currie.
The increased performance is achieved through a pattern of one millimeter spacers bonded to a high performance non woven tri-laminate substrate. The “gap” provides a positive drainage space between the sheathing and cladding material allowing water to quickly escape. The low profile drainage space eliminates the need for design changes in the wall assembly. The product requires no special tools for installation and becomes an effective means to manage moisture and air infiltration resulting in a better built wall. Currie went onto explain “We love the idea that it can be used behind Cedar, Cement Board siding, and Boral Siding three products we sell a lot of. It can also be used behind vinyl, stucco and stone veneers. Our customers want premium siding products and we needed to give them a premium housewrap option”.
