The TYPAR Weather Protection System. It provides exceptional air and water holdout, optimal moisture vapor transmission, superior tear strength and outstanding surfactant resistance PLUS The TYPAR Advantage. At the heart of the system are TYPAR Weather Resistant Barriers (WRB) which act as air and moisture barriers, while allowing moisture vapor to escape from the wall cavity. Installed before the exterior siding, TYPAR WRBs also protect the structure from Nature’s harshest elements with exceptional tear strength and ultraviolet stability.

  • Moisture Control - Typar Housewrap acts as the primary line of defense against the elements during construction, and a secondary water barrier after the cladding is up. But moisture can enter the wall cavity from inside the home as well. TYPAR’s optimal perm rating (11.7 US perms) allows the wall cavity to breathe. So moisture vapor can escape the wall cavity. In addition, the TYPAR material itself does not support the growth of mold unlike traditional building papers.
  • Energy Efficiency - As an air barrier, the TYPAR Weather Protection System contributes to the requirements for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified New Home program as an important component in the air sealing and insulating category.   • Performance - The exceptional tear strength of TYPAR HouseWrap ensures a superior air holdout. Other housewraps can tear in the wind or from the rigors of the job site, and when they do, the housewrap is no longer an effective barrier. Used as a sheathing membrane to cover the cracks and gaps that are a normal part of any building, TYPAR HouseWrap helps prevent air penetration into the wall cavity that would affect the comfort and energy efficiency of the building. TYPAR HouseWrap is equivalent to 5/8-inch particleboard in stopping air leakage without the butt joints that allow infiltration.
  • Warranty - The TYPAR® Weather Protection System is the smart choice for homes. Better yet, it provides the added protection and security of a 10-year limited warranty. So if for any reason the TYPAR Weather Protection System does not perform to published product typical characteristics, TYPAR will pay for the cost of labor and materials to correct the issue.
