Real Wood Decking

Taking a backseat to composite and PVC decking, real wood decking is every bit as beautiful but will require some more maintenance. Niece Lumber stocks and has access to a wide range of real wood decking options.

Ipe (pronounced ee-pay) Exotic Hardwood Always one of the strongest sellers for those consumers wanting real wood. Ipe is an extremely dense, rot and decay resistant hardwood from South America. Its 8 times than redwood. Its rich brown, almost walnut looking color is beautiful with a clear coat of oil sealant. Ipe does not need a sealant to perform well, untreated it will weather to a beautiful silvery, gray.  Niece Lumber stocks Ipe in pre-grooved 5/4 x 6 for hidden fastening, and non-grooved 5/4 x 6 to compliment it.

Ecolife Treated Premium Grade Decking When using pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine decking, make sure its premium grade and make sure its treated with Ecolife. Any other grade of pressure treated decking has a poor appearance. Ecolife treatment keeps the decking lighter in color and aesthetically more pleasing. Ecolife treated decking is the most affordable decking choice at Niece Lumber.

Western Red Cedar Decking The wood decking your grand-papi used to install. Western Red Cedar decking is source from West Coast forests and British Columbia. Western Red Cedar is the most renewable wood decking resource available today. Its stunning appearence and ability to take paints and stains well, makes it a logical choice for homeowners desiring domestic wood decking. Niece Lumber stocks a clear 5/4 x 6 deck board.

Port Orford Cedar Niece Lumber is one of only a select few dealers in this region with access to Port Orford Cedar. Grown just inland from the coast of Southern Oregon, Port Orford Cedar is the strongest of all cedars, and has the strength of Douglas Fir. Port Orford Cedar is packed with natural oils that resists rot and decay. Its light in color, almost blond, and ties in beautifully with a wood sided home. All Port Orford Cedar is a special order purchase and requires a one (1) week lead time.

Garapa Gold Exotic Hardwood Shares very similar characteristics as Ipe. Garapa Gold is a bit more blond in color but every bit as beautiful. Harvested from South American forests, Garapa Gold is a more cost effective alternative to Ipe. Garapa Gold is a special order purchase and requires a one (1) week lead time.

Redwood Niece Lumber has been historically known as the go to source for Redwood products. For years we brought in train carloads of Redwood for various uses. The supply of Redwood coming to the Northeast dried up in the early 1990's. But the supply of some 2nd and 3rd growth Redwood is starting to come back. For the first time in 20 years, Niece Lumber now has a consistent source of Construction Grade Heart Redwood from the California Redwood Company. Ordered by special order only, we have access to 5/4 x 6, 2 x 4, 2 x 6, balusters and posts for any deck or outdoor project. Please allow a one week lead time for the product to arrive

As with any wood product, Niece Lumber suggests sealing all six (6) sides before installation if possible.
